What is Backfield Botanica Balm?
Backfield Botanica Balm (MBBB) is a healing product that harnesses plant ingredients from the boreal forests of Beals Island, Maine. It's formulated to eliminate germs and soothe skin irritation, providing relief for various skin issues including wounds, burns, rashes, and scarring.
What makes your products different from other natural balms?
Our plants come from the boreal forests of Beals Island, situated in the cold northeast Atlantic Ocean. These plants have adapted to extreme climate, poor soils, and long winters — producing higher concentrations of protective compounds. We harness that botanical resilience and formulate specific combinations for a targeted approach. This is not rustic herbalism. This is plant medicine.
What products do you offer?
We currently offer three products: Backfield Botanica Balm (MBBB) — our flagship healing balm for skin issues; Backfield Botanica Lip Balm — a healing lip balm for dry, cracked, or chapped lips; and Shimmer Lip Balm — a light lip color with all the healing benefits of our original formula.
How do I use the Backfield Botanica Balm?
Apply a thin layer of balm directly to the affected area. For best results, apply consistently — many of our customers see results overnight or within a few days of regular use. The balm is for external use only. Always perform a patch test before first use.
Are your products safe for sensitive skin?
Our products are made with natural plant-based ingredients. However, everyone's skin is different. We recommend performing a small patch test on a discreet area before applying to larger or sensitive areas. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
Where do you source your ingredients?
All of our key botanical ingredients are sourced from the boreal forests of Beals Island, Maine. This island's extreme environment — cold Atlantic winds, poor soils, and long winters — produces plants with higher concentrations of protective, healing compounds.

Yes, we currently ship throughout the United States. Shipping times vary by location. Orders are carefully packaged to ensure your products arrive in perfect condition.

What is your return policy?
Due to the nature of our products, we generally do not accept returns. If you receive a damaged or defective product, please contact us within 7 days of delivery and we'll work to resolve the issue.
Can I use the balm on my pets?
Our products are formulated for human use. We recommend consulting with your veterinarian before using any topical product on animals.
